Day 86 of 100
How ridiculous and how strange to be surprised at anything which happens in life.
Marcus Aurelius

The Story

Marcus reminded himself that human nature — with all its flaws — should not surprise us. People will be selfish, cruel, lazy, and unfair. To act shocked is to forget what humans are capable of. But instead of turning bitter, Marcus chose preparation. By expecting imperfection, he preserved his peace. Surprise fades, but serenity remains when your expectations align with reality.

Key Learning

Expect the worst in people — not to hate them, but to prepare to love them anyway.
