Marcus wrote these words while fighting on the freezing Danube frontier. Far from luxury and surrounded by death, he reminded himself daily to look inward. Unlike riches or titles, inner strength cannot be stolen. When storms rise, the Stoic turns to what cannot be shaken: reason, resilience, and character. Marcus believed that this strength lives in all of us — but must be drawn out by habit and reflection.
