Day 35 of 100
The greater the difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it.
Epicurus (adopted by Stoics)

The Story

Although not a Stoic himself, Epicurus' insight was admired by many Stoics. Challenges are the arena where character is forged. Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, and Seneca all believed that hardship was the fire in which greatness is shaped. Rather than resent difficulty, they saw it as the measure — and maker — of a meaningful life.

Key Learning

Don't seek comfort — seek growth. Obstacles are opportunities in disguise.
