Seneca, though serious in teaching, loved wit. He believed self-deprecating humour was a mark of wisdom. When publicly accused of hypocrisy, he responded with a joke — not because the criticism was fair, but because his ego wasn't fragile. Laughing at yourself disarms critics, lightens burdens, and shows maturity. The Stoic takes virtue seriously — but never takes *himself* too seriously.
